Call to Action: StopStyrofoamHawaii.org

A letter from StopStyrofoamHawaii:

Aloha!

Thank you so much for your support with our efforts before the Legislature this Session. While it normally takes anywhere from 3 to 5 years for a bill to become a law, we were very successful these last few months (thanks to your participation), in getting the conversation started and raising awareness of the threats posed by styrofoam and the availability of alternatives to it.

While it is unlikely the styrofoam bill will be enacted into law this Session, there are two Resolutions currently before the Legislature which will be heard this coming week in both the Senate and the House. We have created an online petition at stopstyrofoamhawaii.org to enable individuals to express their support for these resolutions.

The first Resolution, urges State Agencies and Departments to voluntarily use styrofoam alternative products in their procurement, contracting and day-to-day operations, and the second Resolution seeks to establish an education campaign to encourage communities and businesses around the State to voluntarily convert to using styrofoam-alternative products.

Please visit stopstyrofoamhawaii.org and sign the online petition today! Similarly, please encourage your family and friends to sign the petition also! Thank you again for your support and participation.
